This is the first of two books produced by Ian Horsley, documenting Grimsby Morris' involvement in the performance of Lincolnshire plough plays. Traditionally these were short mummers plays performed by the plough plays of a village in order to earn some extra cash during the depths of winter when ploughing is not a commonplace activity. Each village had its own play although there were many common characters and themes.
